CNN —Actress Helen Mirren has said she is “blown away” by a new Barbie created in her likeness. The glamorous doll, complete with its own Academy Award, is one of a series of eight launched by toymaker Mattel to mark International Women’s Day on Friday. Mirren, the 78-year-old star who narrated last year’s hit “Barbie” movie, said she regards the creation of the doll as a “huge compliment.”The new dolls were created to mark International Women's Day. And the cherry on top of the cake is my doll having a miniature Oscar. Thank you @barbie @barbiestyle @Mattel”Previous role model dolls have included TV producer Shonda Rhimes, professional skateboarder Sky Brown and Sarah Gilbert, who developed the Covid-19 vaccine.

CNN —Thirteen-year-old Cui Chenxi of China clinched gold in women’s skateboarding at the Asian Games on Wednesday, becoming the country’s youngest gold medalist as teenage girls continue to dominate the sport. The street event requires competitors to perform tricks on a track scattered with stairs, rails, ramps, benches and more. While the men’s sport tends to be dominated by athletes in their late teens or early twenties, women’s skateboarding has skewed increasingly younger. China's Cui Chenxi competes in the final of the women's street skateboarding event during the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou. Meanwhile in the street event, Momiji Nishiya became Japan’s youngest-ever Olympic champion at 13, while 13-year-old Rayssa Leal of Brazil finished second and 16-year-old Nakayama third.

Alegado qualified as the youngest finalist for the women’s park event on Monday, where she finished seventh out of eight. Olympic dreamsAlegado lives in the US, but trained in Portugal ahead of the Asian Games, which are being held in China. “I wasn’t really nervous, I was really excited about it,” she said about preparing for such a big tournament. Alegado finished seventh in the women's park final at the Asian Games. The gold medal winner in the women’s park event at this year’s Asian Games was 15-year-old Hinano Kusaki from Japan.
